I guess we call that "education under fire" which has got to be the worst, yet it's something the memory refuses to let go of. In that case, it's needed. I'm sorry you had the experience, Ollie. You write about it very clearly --as a reader, I could feel all the frustration like it was mine!

The most heartfelt message I had to share with my Chief Editor and my Wife ASAP, by the way they are both the same two people :-)) Respectfully, Ollie

Ouch! I feel for younger self Ollie. I was scammed myself last year, only a small amount, but could easily have been more. I know how dreadful I felt about. I feel for you that you have lived with that. Also, it does surprise me that scammers were around back then

Good Afternoon/ Morning Jennifer. Hope all is fantastic for you. I just got done watching a vid of the real damage in So. Cal and friends homes and those memories in Malibu growing up are done and gone. I can promise you this, between the punishments my Mom gave to me that evening it not only happened but she hired her Legal team to get that money back. I'm afraid to even answer my cellphone anymore as I learned of a massive scam happening right now. THAT is the person calls and ask you is the Ollie G and you and in your own voice YES ... Just saying those 3 letters is the scam. YES! They take that and use it to call banks and other CC companies and use your voice you said YES to to sign up for things. If you catch them out they have your voice recorded when you sign up to whatever the scammers were wanting, and your in a heap of a mess. I learned that from Actor James Woods. Thank- goodness. Never say YES, only " It Is", they keep trying to make you say YES, don't... Blessings Ollie

I know back in mid 1990's Cynthia it was a regular way people could pay for things, but back in 1980 or so it was something of a novelty and i guess that's why it was used and people were taken. All done I guess they had runners after I gave info someone took to the bank that quickly.
